What is Liver Transplant ?
A liver transplant is a surgery that removes a liver that no longer functions properly (liver failure) and replaces it with a healthy liver from a deceased donor  or a portion of a healthy liver from a living donor.
Deceased Donor Liver Transplant (DDLT) : If liver is received from brain dead patient it is called DDLT.  It is alloted as per the waiting list and according to blood group.
Living Donor Liver Transplant  (LDLT) : If any healthy individual, related to patient donates part of his/her liver to the patient then it is called LDLT.

Who requires the Liver Transplant ?
Patients having :
Acute Liver failure
Chronic liver failure
Liver cancer
Genetic diseases involving metabolism

Who Can Donate liver in LDLT ?
A healthy relative between 18- 55 years of age.
Blood group compatible
Not having any co-morbid medical illness
Not having any psychiatric illness
With no history of any major surgery in the past
With no history of substance abuse or addiction
